with 2 comments

Hey You! I know you are looking! Check out all the cool Whole House and Home Generators On sale at Amazon!

well, with a 5KW generator, which would only run, say a fridge and a couple lights, or a well pump, would use at least 3-5 gallons a day, possibly 8-10 at full capacity…hope that helps…make sure You open Your main circuit breaker so You aren’t sending power to the grid, and BE CAREFUL…many people are injured and KILLED by generators each year, especially utility workers

Generator Runs, Puts Out 124vac @60.24 Hertz. The Problem Is, The Generator Will Not Run The Furnace.?

with 9 comments

The furnace works great on utility power, but will not try to start on the generator. It is a Trane forced air gas furnace. If it is a problem with the ripple on the generator, what equipment (eg. line filter, etc) can I use to clean up the sine wave?

My Generator Won’t Keep Running….?

with 9 comments

I have a Power boss 5500 home generator with a Briggs and Stratton 10 HP engine. It has been sitting since last winter, but I thought I put gas line antifreeze in it before I put it away. I got it started but it won’t keep running. If I let it sit for 15-20 mins. it will start right up and run for 3-5 mins. then quit. Is it a fuel problem?

Honeywell 120v Generator To Manual Transfer Panel?

with 5 comments

Just bought this 3,750w generator: http://amzn.to/eokt8O and it only has (4) 120v outlets, and not the 3 or 4 prong interlock to connect to a manual transfer panel. This was a spur of the moment purchase due to an impending storm. If I have to open the box and use it, is there any way to eventurally adapt it to legally/safely connect it to a manual transfer panel? It will never be used for anything more than small appliances and a natural gas hydronic base board heater system. If I don’t have to open it up, I’ll be returning it and getting a more appropriate model. Just trying to cover my bases if need be.
I’ve searched for a couple of hours and have found nothing of note (besides back-feeding, which I will not do). Thanks for any insights.

How Can A Induction Motor Converted Into A Induction Generator Be Synchronized With The Power Grid Without?

with 2 comments

a Grid-tie inverter?
The Motor = 5 HP, 60 HZ and 1800 RPM.
If this motor is connected to power and spinning clock-wise at 1800 RPM and I would use another power source like a gas motor to spin it faster in the same direction will it feed current back into the power grid?
If so.. Are there any other ways to synchronize this motor to the power grid besides using a Grid-tie inverter?.
